New Home Movie Releases 3/19/13

Lots of great movies coming out this week. We have three movies that were nominated for Oscars this year two of them were nominated for Best Picture. Also getting released today are movies in the Criterion Collection and the classic 80’s comedy Porkys.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey – One of the biggest movies of last year and the first of three in Peter Jackson’s follow up to the Lord of the Rings series. The Hobbit was nominated for Best Make-up and Special Effects at this year’s Oscars.

Les Miserables – The musical hit of last year. Nominated for 8 Oscars including Best Picture. It won 3 Best Sound Mixing, Best Make-Up, and Best Supporting Actress for Anne Hathaway.

Zero Dark Thirty – One of the more controversial films of last year and nominated for 5 Oscars including Best Picture and Best Screenplay. .

This is 40 – Not nominated for any awards but the latest from Judd Apatow. A sort of sequel to Knocked Up.

Rust and Bone – Marion Cotillard gives what has been called one of the best performances of last year and many consider her lack of nomination for Best Actress a major snub. Check out the movie and judge for yourself.

Bachelorette – The comedy that seemed like a rip off of Bridesmaids but did get some decent reviews.

The Girl – The other Hitchcock movie from last year. This one did not get many favorable reviews

Badlands (Criterion Collection)

The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (Criterion Collection)

Porkys – For those that loved the 80’s you can now get Porkys on Blu-Ray.
